Ryan, I am using the MacPorts 1.9.0 release. How would I go about
upgrading to the tip of the 1.9 branch? I know my issue is not just
related to upgrading xorg-libXcomposite. I got similar results when
trying to upgrade gcc43 and the following is the debug results from

Are you using MacPorts 1.9.0 release or the tip of the 1.9 branch? The tip of
the 1.9 branch works for me on Tiger where with the 1.9.0 release I experienced
problems.
