I had no idea Ports and Fink were two different things. I'm relatively
new to Mac products (but very familiar with Unix) so at first I thought
that the Ports/Fink system was the same, and that both used the same
repos/sources or whatever. However I discovered the two were different but
Fink seems t

Okay so when I use Ports to install ircII, the Portfile have these
options by default:
configure.args --with-default-server=irc.freenode.net
--mandir=${prefix}/share/man --enable-ipv6
What I want to know is where the "--with-default-server=irc.freenode.net"
is stored if it's not in the $IRCSERVE
/torify irssi works fine, and it uses Tor. Why cannot irc
or Firefox use it? I get the errors mentioned above with most other
applications I try to use it with.

irefox already using Tor.

Just installed tsocks from port
Whenever I try to use it with anything though, I get this error:
$ tsocks irc
dyld: could not load inserted library: /opt/local/lib/libtsocks.dylib
Trace/BPT trap
$
Same with Firefox, etc.

If I can get the same thing either way, e.g. Tor/Privoxy from MacPorts and the
Vidalia package from the Tor website, is there a security advantage for one
over the other?

I checked the MacPorts page for ircII but they only have the 2008
version. I want the April of 1995 version because it's more stable
and doesn't have the unnecessary features I don't need in the most
recent version that MacPorts has.
I tried compiling the source, but when I try to run 'irc' I get
