Hi all,
I am running into an error with port selfupdate during rsync of ports tree.
I get
DEBUG: Synchronizing ports tree(s)
Synchronizing local ports tree from rsync://rsync.macports.org/release/ports/
DEBUG: /usr/bin/rsync -rtzv --delete-after

Where is the documentation on how to create ports? I sort of have an
idea by looking in existing port files etc but is there a canonical
doc on this? I need the port wv which is broken. There is no
maintainer for it so I thought I'd roll my own.
Thanks for any pointers,

Thanks Yves and Ryan.

Ofcourse this may wreak havoc with dependencies :)

MacPorts does not provide a built-in way to do that. If you want to
do that, you can locate an older version of the portfile by browsing

Yes it is running and I can connect to it form the command line.

I am stumped now because the same upgrade on a MacBookPro seems to

My rails app is complaining that it can't find mysql.sock in /tmp
after upgrading. Before the defaults just worked. Now it appears that
it is in /opt/local/var/run/mysql5 - so I either have to set it in
my.cnf or change my rails configuration.

problems. I recently decided I'd have to bite the bullet and upgrade
so I did a
sudo port self update
I tested a couple of
sudo port upgrades which went well and so, emboldened I decided to do a
sudo port upgrade outdated
