There is something odd going on with how Macport decides about upgrades. I am using a port that is not hosted on macports, but instead on another server (build.openmodelica.org/macports/) They recently made a change to the version names of their port. Now, when the port changes, it does show

It seems that when I upgrade ports, whether I uninstall the old version or not, that the distribution files remain. I have installed with the “-u” and have also just unstalled the inactive ports, after an upgrade. Yet, I see all my old distribution files remaining in /opt/local/var/macports/di

I had a computer problem, and did a restore of my harddrive. I then reinstalled xcode and macports and all seemed fine. Since then I have done a few upgrades of my ports with no problems. Now, I started getting a sqlite error. Any suggestions for what I can do about it? Here is the error:

gettext upgrade error

I have gettext 0.18.1.1_2 installed and just tried to upgrade to 0.18.2_0. The strange thing is that it builds, but then it won't merge. I decided to post here before filing a ticket, but it seemed like an issue that might be specific to me. I am running macports on OS 10.6.8. The error is

Conflicting ports

I have subversion installed. It depends on cyrus-sasl2. I also have ext2fuse installed, which depends on e2fsprogs. All was working fine. But, I just did a sync, and now cyrus-sasl2 wants to update from 2.1.23_3 to 2.1.25. The problem is that it now depends on kerberos5 and kerberos5 conflic

Pyrex not found

I am running 2.0.3 and have been for a while. I had done all the recent upgrades to Macports by just doing sudo port selfupdate. But, I see that there are two features, that I believe were added with the jump to 2.0 that don't seem to be active. One is that I still need sudo to run all my ma

Macports does have the newest version of gimp, and it installs an application as well. gimp is listed as 2.6.11 and it is a a meta port and should then install gimp2 and gimp-app as dependancies. By just doing sudo port install gimp I have 2.6.11, which is the latest version of gimp accordin

I know that when I do an update, by default, the old port is deactivated, but not uninstalled. And, if I want to get rid of old ports I can do: sudo port -u uninstall However, I just noticed that macports seems to still leave around the distribution files. For example, I have qt4-mac installed

Upgrade dependents to universal?

Here is the problem...I am trying to install wine-devel, but many ports that I have installed are not universal. So, each time I do: sudo port install wine-devel I get things like this: Error: You cannot install wine-devel for the architecture(s) i386 because Error: its dependency xorg-libXcurs
