For ppc part I am in. Especially if Palemoon fixing doesn’t proceed much (it
builds, but does not work yet).

I wonder why not? I don't see anything in the libmpc portfile that imposes any
architecture restrictions nor anything that should prevent the universal
variant from working.

on intel 10.6 and it complained that it's only for ppc.

I have an apparently similar issue that I had with Leopard with older
gccs, but in this case with current gcc14.
I want to test building openssl3 with gcc instead of clang and I do this:
Irrlicht:Arctic-Fox multix$ sudo port -v upgrade openssl3
configure.compiler=macports-gcc-14
