Robin,
Go to http://www.word2tex.com/index.html and try their word > latex
converter. The trial version will convert the text and formulas but not the
tables and pictures...

Hi,
When I insert pictures into a file (say two pictures in one "wide figure
float") the pictures seem to be nicely in their place in the LyX window but
when I actually compile the file and view the dvi, the pictures are at top
of the page rather than where I want them to be.
Any suggesstions?

Is there a style thesis style for LyX that anyone knows of, or I have to
write my own? Or I should try to "import" a LaTeX thesis style for LyX?
I have V. 1.1.5, and I suppose I need to upgrade to 1.1.6 before I get too

Hi,
Something I want to share...
I have upgraded to 1.1.6 by using the rpms available at the ftpside. But
then the shortcut in the KDE menu has disappeared and I was able to run lyx
only from a terminal. Then, I tried to make a shortcut for it on my own and
I did that. But then, I lost the icon f

I can not change the margins no matter what... By the way, I am using report

Ok, sorry...
'bmod' does seem as 'mod' in the dvi file... I guess this was drawback of now
knowing TeX...
Sorry for the inconvenience.

I tried to insert some text (say the word "where") inside an equation by
using the command: \textrm{where}

Any idea?

Hi,
How can I import gif or jpeg files into lyx? When I say insert image the only

Hi,
I have multiline equations but the equations are not properly aligned. By
which I mean, for example, the "=" signs are not in the same 'column'.
Example:
x(t)=a*g(t)
=a*h(t)*t
is what I get at the output.
It would be neat to have
x(t)=a*g(t)
=a*h(t)*t
thanks,
Remzi

Hi,
In report style, how can I have equations to be numbered by incorporating
the "section numbers" in?
I can not show the section numbers in the section titles.
Say I have the section title for section 2 as:
PRELEMINARIES
my first equation should be numbered as:
y(t)=a.x(t)(2.1)
I have a problem too when I convert my document into HTML... The
mathematical characters appear as latex commands...

More specifically, I can not see any of the symbols on the lyx screen (not

Try this (if you have not already)

fontsize 12
If you are talking about reading it on the screen zoom the document in your
