I imagine lyx uses ispell and apparently Suse has misconfigured ispell in its version 8.1. Even when one is not in lyx, there is a problem with the (French dictionary) perhaps I imagine also with the German one. I mentioned the problem to them and I wait for the answer. Pierre

In the extended manual, several tricks are suggested to get good displays in Acroread. I tried them, none worked. However since I use times font, I have included in the preamble, \usepackage{times} it works pretty fine. This could be suggested in the documentation. Pierre

I my case when I tried to start the spellchecker on a French (francais) document (french-gutenberg to be more precise). It just hangs and stays blocked for a while I imagine it runs into an infinite loop until a time out is reached. Amusingly I tried to tell LyX that my text is formatted in Engli
