Math Display and Graphics frustration in LyX 1.3.6 Tiger 10.4

inserting the environment, I can't type in the caption. If I click outside the figure box and back in again, then I can type. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is there some default mode that I'm missing? Thanks, Kevin ----------
