Up until recently making an edit to a document in Lyx and then clicking View PDF in the toolbar caused it to regenerate the PDF and display it; if the file was still open in the viewer, then it would throw an error and you'd have to close the file first... As of this morning, though, it simply red

I interpret what you said about closing the viewer to mean that it's not just Update PDF that balks, but that View PDF will also balk (meaning that if you View PDF, close the viewer, edit the document and click View PDF again you'll get the unedited version). Charitably assuming I go that right, y
