I am writing my doctoral dissertation with lyx (it works great!). I have one
question:
I want to insert certain black and white drawings. Which is the best format to
import a graphic as a drawing with the best quality .In this case size does
not matter :-).

I had the same pb with Lyx 1.2.3.
I tried the solution given by Jean-Marc, but it didn't function. I
canceled the modification i did, and after a few days... the buttons
appeared ! without any intervention of myself...

the Qt frontend that resets the options passed to dvips erroneously.
