I couldn't have lyx 1.2 working but latex and and dvi don't work either in
that distribution. I don't know what rpm is missing (gv always shows
grabage, but xdvi works fine) .
I could however install lyx 1.2 rebuilding from tar.gz over RH 7.1
I cannot answer your question. This is just an encouragement: I have no
problem with RH7.3 + lyx-1.2.0-1rh73-xforms089.i386.rpm or
xforms-0.89-1.i386.rpm (I don't remember which one) + lyx-1.2.0.tar.gz.
