a label without a number makes no sense. so eqnarray*
changes to eqnarray. When now removing the label, LyX
doesn't know that there was no number. So you have
to delete label _and_ number. I think this makes
some sense and
equation numbers. I.e. {eqnarray*}
and not {eqnarray} is used.
If one now adds a label to any of the lines (say the second one) in the
eqnarray environment, the resulting Latex code generate by Lyx changes to:
\begin{eqnarray}
.. \nonumber \\
.. \label{foo

Okay, I should know the answer to this, in LaTex I do. Using Lyx, ams article
style, with ams packages, what modification is needed to get the equation
numbers on the right? I know that righttag is an option for the amstex
package but it is not clear how to obtain this in Lyx.

I use the Prettyref option and that puts in the parantheses around the
eqn. number when you reference an equation.. if you click on the
reference inset, in &quo

why you don't just put "(" reference-box ")" (remove quote).
like in multiple citation, e.g.
(\citeautho

Try to redefine [EMAIL PROTECTED] macro from
$TEXMF/tex/latex/base/latex.ltx in the preamble of your document.

I would like the equation numbers to appear in brackets in the text when
I reference them. How can this be done?
Cheers,
Paul

I'm having some difficulty getting equations numbered. Toggeling
Edit->Math->Toggle numbering does not seem to do anything. I am using
lyx 1.2.3. I have tried both the menue and alt-m n. Is this a known bug
or am I missing something here?

Open the document dialog, and add 'reqno' to the 'Extra options' field.
Hello,
I am using for the document layout, AMS article. However, I'm getting left
aligned equation numbers. How do I get the right aligned equation numbering?
Also, anyone here publishing mathematical physics articles to iop? If you
are, are you able to incorporate the latex class
