This one is solved. As a previous mailing noted:
Yap needs a full path in the preferences (C:\texmf\miktex\bin\yap.exe)
Latex needs a full path in the preferences
(C:\texmf\miktex\bin\latex.exe)
Lyx was not finding either yap.exe or latex.exe with " yap "
and "latex $$i" as is the d
can you tell us (a) what the entry in the relevant preference item (File
Formats, DVI) currently says; and (b) where yap actually is? In particular,
if it's in something like "Program Files" (with a space) then you may have
to quote the full path, something like "c:/program files/miktex/bin/yap.

I have installed Ruurd's port for lyx (qt) on a number of windows based
machines and have arrived at a number of different problems (strangely
not all problems shared by all computers). None of the problems are
"life threatening" but perhaps someone can come up with some
