Using symbol with non-TeX fonts --> missing character

I don't have much experience using XeTeX so I'm wondering if the following is expected: 1. Insert > Special Characters > Miscellaneous Symbols, and then choose \FiveStarOpen (the hollow star). If I compile, it works. But if I do: 2. Document > Settings > check Use non-TeX fonts and then compile
