Yes it works... I just forgot that upper and lowertitleback only for
two-sided documents.

You need to turn on twosided output in Document preferences.
I'm not cetain why this is necessary in 1.6 compared to 1.5.
but atleast you get your upper and lower titlebacck.

I am going to use the uppertitleback and lowertitleback in
Book(KOMA-script) in LyX 1.6.1 (OS Ubuntu 8.04) but when I see the pdf,
they are not shown.
When I use LyX 1.5.5 it works well.
Please find enclosed the minimal example file (LyX 1.6.1) that fails to
show the uppertitleback and lowertitle
