Sorry for the bother eventually I managed to use the fonts by doing a ful
system font refresh and a latex font refresh.

Most popular way to do is to install pTeX if you are thinking of
writing Japanese as a main task. pTeX also includes normal TeX, so in
most of cases it suffices to do. What kind of errors did you get when
you tried it?

I have been trying to use XeTex as well but somehow I cannot get Lyx/xetex
to use the font. I installed the hiragino otf in the open type font
directory of MikTex, but nothing. Even if I declare the font family at the
beginning of the document, Lyx/xetex can

alway
