When I first installed LyX, it could not find any layouts,
and would produce "unknown textclass book" errors
when opening the Tutorial, for example. This despite
having done the Edit>Reconfigure step.

Well, I think they already know that their code to make the menus look
like aqua us a bad hack. I can only hope that chnaging that is high on
their todo list.
