I cannot address the configurability issue, but I've always used pdflatex and it's worked flawlessly. If I have PSTricks images in the document, then I use PDF4 instead of pdflatex. Try these and see if you like the results. Rich What do you mean by PDF4? Do you mean ps2pdf14? Thanks, Dav
