Dear Paul,
thanks for your feedback and help. Now
lyx-1.3.0-1.i386.SuSE-8.1-KDE3.1-qt3.rpm is installed and runs perfectly
nice on my (online-updated) SuSE 8.1.
A small problem was to get the new qt3-packages installed, because of the
dependencies. I had a few trial and error cycles, until I manag

That version is compiled against the updated qt 3.1 libraries (available
from SuSE update online or the KDE mirrors)
If you do not want to update the qt libraries, you can also find the qt2
compiled version in ftp.lyx.org. This should work with a stock install
of SuSE 8.1

Paul
I have downlodaded lyx-1.3.0-1.i386.SuSE-8.1-KDE3.1-qt3.rpm.
It installs with rpm --install without any error on a SuSE 8.1 (online
update yesterday).
But when I start LyX I just get

The Qt frontend behaves very diff
Wow - I finally managed to compile 1.3.0 with the Qt frontend and it is
a joy to use. Congratulations to all the developers.
As an added bonus, I finally get to use Turkish characters, and I don't
have to change my keyboard layout to do so. I don't know if this is a

Hello SuSE LyX-ers
I uploaded an rpm for SuSE 8.1 compiled with the qt frontend against
qt3. This file will hopefully soon be available in the bin directory of
ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/. For the impatient, you can also get it from
