we need some more information on what is happening to provide help. Do you
get any error message during compilation? Did you look at the Latex log?
Any error there?
The error message you reported in your second message (the compilation to
PS) seems to suggest you may have run out of sp

When I try to generate a PS file, the message I get is
Copying /tmp/lyx_tmpdir.TJ2448/lyx_tmpbuf2/oct31.ps to

Dear all:
Please could you advice me?
I've got a 304-page picture-rich book. But while generating PDF, the file
cuts short at Page 236. After that, the pages don't show up.
Any idea why this could be happening?
Is it due to a lack of space on my hard disk? Ive' tried clearing some
files.
