in LyX 1.2.0, the "default" layout is now saved via the "Document"
dialogue. Apparently, it is no longer possible to save a "default"
LaTeX preamble with it -- I tried, it is not saved.
While most things I used to put there (like \usepackage{ae}
and \usepackage[T1]{fontenc}) can now be done
