I haven't looked into, but you might see what tools are available for
creating ePub files. LyX can export to XHTML already, and ePub is merely a
subset of XHTML.

You might have good luck in trying to adapt one of the article classes. A
common layout for newsletters is to use two columns with simple headings and a
clean header/footer. The first example that jumps to mind is the TUGBoat
