+1 as official Mandriva also has rpm packages for Lyx, Mandriva 2006 is
just offering a little bit older 1.3x version.
I have also this same problem. And as the error box comes before Lyx
really is fully started, it is impossible to get in the preferences dialog.
I will however try your other suggestions tomorrow.

Do you mean that I should hilight the XML and select "listing" from the
lyx combobox in the left? I tried that and I was able to indent lines
more left so it kind of worked.

I would like to write example XML data to my text but I have problems
