The problem you noticed in latex2rtf comes from the fact that this
program only translates entire latex files (the file name must be
given in the command line). It cannot be invoqued in a pipe or with a
redirection of the latex file to the standard input.

guillemets have to be preceded and followed by a small blank. The
size and the protection of the blank is handled by B. Gaule's French
