I have the same problem under RH 8.0. In addition to the problem with the
menubars, the german special characters are not processed correctly when
used in a bibtex-reference.

I recently installed Lyx 1.2.1 using the source-rpm available from
ftp.lyx.org on a RedHat-8.0-System.
Apparently, there is a problem concerning the german special characters. I
can use them in the text and the dvi-output produces them correctly, but
they are not displayed correctly in the me
