The lshort layout

My problem with getting some jpg images in my report exported to pdf is the image size. Can someone tell me how a 300x512 sized image can appear as 1.000x1.707 inches in both GIMP and LyX? I don't get it, the size in inches can't be, and in fact is _not_ the real 300x512 size. All this is just so

If LyX is based on LaTeX, as the documentation says, how come the LyX FreeBSD port installed teTeX as a dependancy?

That's odd, since I've resized and resaved almost every image. Entering 100% as width and height makes the JPG image appear slight bigger on PDF, though in LyX it takes up so much space that it destroys for the rest of my layout, like it does with no value. (the image appears on a separate page e

Hello. Why do these two problems always occur to LyX newcomers? 1. ``LaTeX Error: Unknown graphics extension: .eps.'' 2. I have a few Type1 fonts that doesn't appear in `Character Style' -> `Family'. How can I use them? Shouldn't LyX use the fonts loaded in X? Thanks.
