Hello George, I used your instructions on
http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/Linux and it runs in a shell. There is only one
deb. in the parent-directory and one cannot install it:
debian:/home/gerhard# dpkg -i lyx_1.3.6-1_i386.deb
Vorbereiten zum Ersetzen von lyx 1.3.4-2 (durch lyx_1.3.6-1_i386.deb)
You could try to apply
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/lyx/lyx_1.3.4-2.diff.gz to your
unpacked source, chmod +x debian/rules, add a changelog entry with updated
version number in debian/changelog and then build .deb packages with
fakeroot debian/rules binary

qt3-dev-tools

I wanted to compile the newest version on my Debian Sarge:
./configure --with-frontend=qt
Configure ended with :
configure: error: Cannot compile a simple Qt executable. Check you have
the right $QTDIR !
libqt3-mt-dev is installed.
Any ideas?

I have to use headlines and footlines (not footnotes) in my document.
Both lines have to have the same text on every page. I hope it is easy
to realise,
but I cannot find the right way. In the manual I only find footnotes
and no headlines and footlines.

I have to put a pdf-file to a BSCW-server.
The way with "font (Schrift) default produces nearly unreadable text.
So I use "pslatex" and create the pdf-file with: "export - pdf (pdflatex).
The text is readable.
But the german "ß" (scharf s) is replaced by "SS".
Any idea to produce a good

I wanted to install lyx 1.3.0-1suse81-qt31.i386 .rpm
First error-message was: Lyx.. needs qt3.
So I load qt3-non-mt-3.05-31.i386.rpm down and installed both
rpm-pakages.
Without a problem.
But Lyx does not start.
I guess I haven`t got the right version of qt3.
Would someone tell me wichon
