I was able to download the tarball, build it in /opt and run LyX 2.0.3
successfully. Clearly this is a Gentoo packaging issue of some kind. I then
went back and tried some other things and now LyX runs correctly! I performed
the following steps, which may not make much sense to you unless y

Yes. A non-root user can run lyx with sudo and it works fine.
Other things I've tried:
* Disabling Xinerama did not prevent the crash
* Creating a new user, logging in to a new X session and running LyX resulted
in the same crash

I just installed LyX 2.0.3 on a Gentoo system and the application is crashing
as soon as the window opens. I get a dialog box with the SIGSEGV message and
then it dies. The strange part is that I can run LyX successfully if I run it
as root. Idon't know if this a LyX bug or a Gentoo packaging

I am running Windows XP Home edition. I installed from the network

I haven't been able to grasp what I need to do to nest lists inside of
lists, or enumerations inside of Lists, or lists inside of enumerations,
etc..
I have read that it can be done, but am clueless as to how to do it.
What am I missing?

I'm sorry, I should have mentione
I have done this, but it doesn't change the Header the way a Chapter
does. It continues the heading of the previous chapter.
So how can I get it to change the header like a real Chapter would?

As above, are there LyX native commands for doing Prefaces,
Introductions, Forewords, etc, that work like Chapter and insert
themselves into the Table of contents?
Or, how to do I get something to be entered into the TOC without using
"Chapter"?
TIA

Hi,
I am having problems with text sometimes overwriting the page numbers at
the bottom when there is a float in the page (figure or table). My float
placement is set to 'tbp', but the only combination I've found that
avoids the problem is setting it to 'p', i.e. separating the floats from
the te
reamble, but that doesn't change the
name either. The only way it works is if I use Red
Text (TeX mode) and insert the command just before the
beginning of the bibliography.
Why is this? How can I incorporate the correct name
into the style file?
Thanks,
Craig
Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone is able to get the $Id: $ string (defined
by RCS) into the footer or header without going into math mode.

. It does not seem
to work though. I have tried putting tabs between the numbers but that
does not work either.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I've just started using Lyx & I can't seem to put figures in my documents! I do
the insert->figure thing, give it my .ps file & it appears nicely in my
document & everything, then when I do 'View Postscript' I see it being drawn on
the page and just as it finishes drawing it disappears! If I
the Document Layout popup indicate an obvious
problem (perhaps with my installation or configuration)? Is using the
Character Style popup on my whole article the best work around?
Thanks for any prompt advice,
