The problem is the optional argument, not just using \xrightarrow

A friend of mine has installed Ruurd Reitsma's Lyx port on Windows-XP.
All seems to work except for one problem. When typing hebrew, the
letters appear in reverse order, i.e. when you type ABC (actually aleph

Have you thought of using a diffrent package like picins or wrapfig.
You'll have to use a minimal ERT for those, though. I think that picins
is the most robust, although I'm no expert.
