I haven't a clue about LaTeX itself. Can you explain what I need to do with

And also I want it to take effect only in the algorithm float, not the rest

but when I use maxima on the former line, I get
a = a
as it only reacts to the first part of the equation.
Besides solving this problem, is there anywhere a documentation of this
option, anywhere?
