I think it probably isn't possible. I've had a quick look at the code,
and what CopyStyle does is
basically:
ThisStyle = ThatStyle
So if you do:
Hello,
If I open a lyx file with a including a reference to a graphics file which
is missing. I get "file not found" and a compilation error.
If then I put the expected file where is is expected, I still get the same
compilation error while I can open it when I click on the link.
To remove the err
When defining a style, is it possible to copy more than one style? If so,
are values overridden?
This seems like it would be a good feature, when you want to create a style
that combines the features of two existing styles.

I figured out the problem: on the Mac LyX stores the UserDir under
~/Library/Application Support/LyX-. I still had version 2.0 and
was editing my layout file in that folder, rather than the one in the 2.1
folder. I now works as expected.
Thanks again.

I have the same problem on one of my computers.
Additionally, LyX does not preview equations.
On my other computer,
I just updated to latest version of MacTeX, and latest
version of LyX, and that solved the problem on
that computer.
