I have on Windows Ghostscript 8.54 and ghostview 4.8. They came with the lyx
1.4.3-5 bundle.

In LyX or in the generated TeX?
If you looked at the generated TeX this is intended. In LyX it should look
like a real Ÿ. If it does not, did you open both files in the same LyX
instance?
