png conversion

Dear all, ever since I updated from version 1.3.6 to 1.4, lyx cannot display png graphics anymore; converting to pdf works fine though. I probably need to tell lyx to convert png files to a readable format, but how do I do this? which converter can I use? I use lyx 1.4.0 for mac (MacOSX 10.3)
