I hope that it is not considered too off-topic to ask here about the art
of indexing. This morning I bought a copy of Larry Bonura's "The Art of
Indexing". The most important insight I have gained so

Dear All
I would like to know whether it is possible to draw an oblique line
connecting two corners of a cell of a table.
Thank you a lot in advance!

Do you use bibtex? Then right-click on the box saying "BibTeX Generated
References" and check "Add bibliography to TOC"

The LyX graphical user interface doesn't seem to have
a way to easily indicate where frontmatter and
mainmatter begin. I use ERT to insert \frontmatter
and \mainmatter. This is fine for me and I'm not
complaining. I'm just wondering if I missed a more
obvious way.

I have Lyx 1.3.2 Win32 installed on my Windows XP system and had access
the the DVI menu option under "View>DVI" until I tried editing the file
conversion preferences. Now the DVI option is gone and I can't get it
back (although Yap is listed with path under the viewer preferences).

Hi LyXers,
my professor instists that in a dissertation, floats should definitely come
only after they are referenced to in the text.
LaTeX defaults to put them on the page where they are defined (or later),
so that

Helge,
I've not before needed to index anything I've written so Ed's concerns
have suddenly become pertinent to my book. Your comments are ver

The indexed words are turned into boxes on the screen that
I find annoying. I'd also like a bit more automation to make
indexing easier. I'm wondering whether I'm overlooking a
capability in LyX and whether someone has already

Does really nobody has an idea how to solve this problem?
Sorry, but it's really urgent!

Hi,
does someone know an easy way to get a 2-column text floating around a picture
in the middle? I mean something like this:

Guys, I attach a patch for bug 1404
doublespace is messed in a single Arabic paragraph
LyX wil currently generate LaTeX like:
\begin{document}
\begin{doublespace}
\begin{arabtext}
...
\end{doublespace}
\end{arabtext}
\end{document}
Ie, the \end{doublespace} and \end{arabtext} lines are output i

If I knew...
But there's always this cute little method to increase one's average
familiarity with the code...
