Hello List!
I am using the article layout to write a paper. When I view the
postscript (^t), I find that below the title and author, current date is
displayed. Is there a way to suppress this date. How? Please help.

Either you are mistaken or you should immediately submit new frontend to
the developers (GNOME frontend is failed attempt for some time) :-)

A big problem with filecontents is that if you modify a file that your
correspondent already have, filecontents will _not_ override it. Am
major problem, if you ask me.
