Most of the times that Lyx freezes the computer for a while is because of
the autosave feature.

I am writing a Lyx document (1.1.6fix3) which includes many jpeg images. To
conserve time and disk space, I do not want to go through the process of
converting the jpeg images to .eps files. Because pdflatex handles jpeg
files, I am assuming things should be straightforward.

Hi,
I'm using Lyx 1.2.0 on cygwin. The CPU usage by LyX is consistently above
30% even though I may not be working in LyX at all. The memory usage is
also considerably high. Sometimes, LyX starts doing something and it
freezes my computer for a minute or so while it's doing whatever it's doing

Thanks Andre and Herbert.. I looked at the link above and tried out
pdftricks but couldn't get it to work.. so I resorted to ps2pdf.

Hi,
The last part of my current Lyx document is an Appendix. For this I
switched on the Appendix in the menu. The problem is that in the final
output file (Postscript) Appendix A is shown correctly, but all the
following ones are displayed as Chapter B, Chapter C etc. instead of
Appendix B

Hi,
I have a figure that I created in dia and exported to Pstricks tex format.
I then input the file in LyX. The postscript output is fine but when I
export to PDF using any of the three methods, the figure is missing. How do
I get the figure in the PDF file without using ps2pdf on the ps file

having used lyx on and off over a period of years now, i found that i had to
issue preamble commands in order to do something "cool".
and watching this list also shows that many solutions use non-obvious "magic

I am using koma-script book class.
When I set the page margins, such as top and bottom 1 inch, I get margins
longer than that. The page style is chosen as plain. How can I get that
accomplished? The margins I get from the side of the paper to the text is
around 1.8 inches...
Is there a way ar

Hi,
Surprisingly, I am not able to use minibuffer at all in
1.2.0. What can be the possibility and remedy???
Further, can anyone help me on how to define
(1) a math macro, and (2) keybindings
possibly in my personal directory.
Thanks in advance

Hi folks,
I'm writing my thesis using book class and it give me the Chapter no. and the
Title of Chapter on the left side.
First, how do I center my chapter no. and tile of chapter?
Secondly, how do I change Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc. to Chapter I, Chapter II, ect.
Thank you very much!

But I have successfully used the lowercase letters in
\mathcal in earlier versions, say 1.1.5/6, whereas it simply
doesn't work now, no matter whether I use AMS-Math or not.
