when I insert an equation \begin{equation} it is centered and
automatically numbered. How can I insert an equation (as opposed to a
formula, which wor

Hi all,
Somebody (besides me) was asking how to vertically condense your table of
contents, eliminating the huge spacing that the TOC defaults to.
The following code was placed between \preamble and \endpreamble in my layout
file to achieve a much more compact TOC:

Hello,
I downloaded the dropcaps and dropping files for the TEX-installation and installed
everything in
my local texmf file (/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex), after that I made texhash.
But when I want to use dropcaps with lyx I can't get it working.
What might that be?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks.

Hello Otto,
that's what I did, I also installed the eurofont in my TEX-Installation.
If I'm working with the default font of lyx and the latex-preamble
\usepackage{eurofont} it works fin though the
eurosign which is generated seems a little bit strange.
But if I include as mentioned at http://ww
Hi,
I created an outline and put the commands \date{} and \thispagestyle{empty}
and the dvi is allright. Then, if I make pdf file by using pdflatex, the date
and page number are there. If I make pdf without pdflatex, then I don't have
the date and page number appearing.
Any idea what's wrong?
Is there a "supported way" to scale included graphics by a fixed ratio of
the original size?
