Why \ensuremath{º] ?

Hi all: I've a little problem: In Lyx, In Spanish, I write "1º", and the latex export translates to "1\ensuremath{º}". Becouse of thath, the latex2html web generation converts the "º" character into an image. Why? How can I tell Lyx than not use \ensuremath{} for that symbol? Thanks
