Yes, I'm embarassed, it was quite stupid. After sending the
outputs of gdb to the list (sorry!), while desperately browsing through
the documentation, I noticed the "-debug" switch. So I launched lyx with
"-debug 5" and got the following message, just before the crash:

One more thing:
If you don't need "normal" margin notes, you can put the following lines in
the preamble:
\let\oldmarginpar=\marginpar
\renewcommand{\marginpar}[1]{\reversemarginpar\oldmarginpar{#1}}
and then you will not need to
This inset as it is found in 1.1.6 can only handle ps/eps graphics, it
can also be used for pdf generation if you already have the png image.
That is if you generate a postscript file (or generate pdf by using
ps2pdf) you must have an eps file, if you generate pdf directly
(pdflatex) then you need

Hi folks,
I am running Debian(potato) on an Alpha, quite
smoothly but recently I tried to compile LyX
1.1.6fix1.
All goes well and it gets compiled, but when I try
to run it, it dies immediately:
src/> ./lyx
Illegal instruction
I suppose that some library is wrongly installed,
and I tried

Hello,
I am wondering, what people think is the best way to handle drawings in
LaTeX/Lyx currently. Some years ago, I did this using xfig and exported there
as pslatex and imported then these files into latex. But handling two files
was never comfortable and I rememeber that I also had to wri

Hello,
Thank you very much for the class file. I've already
tried it ($latex my_paper.tex) and it's exactly what I need. One
more question: How should I do or where should I place this class
file in order to be able to use it from LyX? I mean I'd like to

Hello,
the extended features manual says in 3.3.6.3
"A semi-functional insetgraphics exist it in 1.1.6. To use it, type M-x

Does anybody know, if it works for including ps graphics or where more
documentation may be found?
Thanks.

Hello everybody,
I've been using LyX and LaTex for almost one year, but
never had to format any of my articles so precisely. Now I need
to follow IEEE Tr. on Comm article format as closely as possible.
I would appreciate any links to LaTex .sty or .cls, or to
LyX format (class?) fi

Hey all,
I think it cannot be told enough: good work for LyX, it's great !
Writing my thesis, I was wondering what would be the best way to include
a list of symbols (T is temperature and that kind of stuff). I want a TOC and
LOF but an index is not needed. Can I use that to create the LOS?

option could be turned off.
