If you want to set the language in LyX, use the menu option Layout |
Document and choose Dutch language for the document. This changes
expressions like References, Abstract, Bibliography, etc. to same
meaning Dutch expressions. Notice this will appear translated in result
(.dvi or .ps).

insert through Insert/Floats/Figure Float not display on dvi but if I change
it to Wide Figure Float it will display nicely but figure will across two
columns. Any suggestion are appreciated.

Hello everybody,
I am writing a text in Dutch, and have some problems with the language
settings:
- Ispell hyphenates a word containg an 'ij' between the 'i' and the 'j',
which is impossible in Dutch. Ispell uses the Dutch dictionaries (using the
tricks with the links described in the Users Guide)

I require 1.3cm spacing between two columns for my
article. Can't find it anyway under layout. Secondly, my
articles Title, Author, Address need to crossover two columns at the first page.
I certainly appreciate if someone can help. Thanks.
