But you need a very recent version of LyX for that.

I'd like Lyx to always start maximized, this works as long as I launch
Lyx without a file name as an argument. When started like "lyx
/some/file.lyx" or from a file manager, the window doesn't fill the
screen. I didn't find any switch in the sample lyxrc file that sets
the geometry and Lyx doesn'
