Playing around I discover that this is acceptable: \begin_inset FormulaMacro \newcommand{\bmath}[1]{\mathbf{a}} But this isn't: \begin_inset FormulaMacro \newcommand{\bmath}[1]{\mathbf{#1}} The font-specifier is dropped in the case of macro-arguments. Regards, Angus
