I would prefer that. And the same applies for lyx2lyx. Installing them
in /usr/local/bin makes sense for expert use

My /lib/lyxrc.defaults file contains the entry:
\converter latex lyx "reLyX-1.4.0cvs -f $$i" ""
This converter has never worked, not even on *nix, if I don't go to the
