That is what I would suggest.
This is a critical bug. Could you please register a bug in
bugzilla.lyx.org, and attached a minimnal file showing the problem?

I use lyx on a windows machine at work and at home but the disk layouts
are different. This means
that I try and use relative paths for including a bibtex file. However,
recently I made the mistake
of hardcoding the file to the c: drive when at work I use the d: drive.
