Select an 'a', press C-b.
OTOH \bf b should work, too, and does not..

When trying to test this, I have the problem that I cannot change math
font to bold, emphasize or what

Ok... maybe its time to have a look at this one... 'minibuffer feedback'
seems to be needed in a few more places...

You could add status repo
Has anybody an idea how to provide "optical feedback" for \displaystyle
etc. Just shrinking the font size on screen does not seem enough...

I cannot change the size of parts of an equation by setting displaystyle. At
a first glance it seems to work. However after saving and reopening the file
all special size settings are gone. This does not work neither with the input
in the minibuffer (math-size displaystyle) nor by direct input
(Using Lyx-1.1.5fix2, regarding math formulars)
If I place a \displaystyle in a fraction before a sum, Lyx uses it
correctly during that session - but if I save the document, close it and
open it again, it is not there any more, and it also is not implemented in
the not viewable part of the

Perhaps. It could also be you using the "wrong" mathinset, are you
sure you don't want a display mathinset?

Hi, some weeks ago I posted this message, but had absolutely no reply. Because
it´s an anoying thing to fill in the \displaystyle commands again and again
every time you open the document. So I post this message again. I know that
this problem exists in some earlier version, but it seems not to
Hello everybody!
Here´s something strange with handling of \displaystyle etc. in math mode.
I wrote in LyX a single equation with the use of a \displaystyle. Here is the
part of the .lyx-file:
\begin_inset Formula
\[
\frac{1}{1+{\displaystyle \frac{1}{2}}}\]
\end_inset

Try to put explicitly some displaystyle{} in a math formula
("explicitly" means : without using the math-size feature in the
mini-buffer).
Look at the dvi file : it looks good.
Now :
save, exit LyX, fire it again ...
no more displaystyle{} !!!
Defining in the preamble something
