FWIW, I hacked the math displaying to display all math insets two pixels
higher

The attached .lyx file demonstrates two problems. It contains a LyX
macro definition and a single 3x3 tabular that's all-empty except for
the middle cell which contains an instance of the macro.
First, when displayed in LyX the tabular is allocated too little height
so the last row is clippe
