Meanwhile, add the following line to your lyxrc file:
\show_banner false
(If you are using the new 'Edit->Preferences' dialog, it's under the
'Misc' tab.)
This disables the banner.

This is working as it should then, and as far as I can see the colors
picked are pretty close to what you really want.

Sorry you're right this is the development banner which we wrongly put into
the final version. This will be fix

This seems to be related to the new colorful banner of LyX. When I
disable it in the new fine preferences dialog, I have no color
problems anymore and the startup time reduces to 1.7 seconds (!!)
