GUI independence is a big part of what the LyX team is planning.
That is good news. Once you have this working, I suggest you drop the
support for XForms. XForms is not all that widely used, so I doubt
anyone will desperately yearn for the screen appearance of XForms and
be unhappy with GTK
LyX could be a useful part of a free operating system if only it could
run without XForms. Is there any chance you could modify it to use a
free toolkit--perhaps GTK?
