while translating the Preferences dialog, I stumbled upon the backup feature
and realized it does not work exactly as described in both, its checkbox'
tooltip and the (new) section 2.2.1 of the User's Guide manual.

LyX 2.4.0 beta 5.
Environment:
I compiled LyX 2.4.0 beta 5 on Ubuntu 22.04 with Qt6 enabled and my Tex Live
install is up to date.
