There is quite a difference in quality between different Qt user
interface styles. IMO macOS gets the short stick, Windows fares a bit
better, while Qt's own Fusion style is probably best.

A pref entry would be fine (JMarc, I hear you screaming!). We already
have prefs (in Edit > Control) to toggle sorting and grouping of
layouts, so that would be the place.

Sometimes when compiling 2.4 the manuals look like the attachment. First
I thought that something is amiss with my patches but it appeared with
several quite different ones, so I am wondering whether anyone has seen
this before or might know why it is like that?
